Tummy Tuck

Significant weight gain and loss can impact the abdomen, the flanks and lower back. Laxity associated with this type of weight loss often develops in all of these areas. I offer the circumferential tummy tuck in Scottsdale and Phoenix, AZ to help patients correct laxity around the entire waist often associated with significant weight loss.

About the Procedure

The circumferential tummy tuck goes by a lot of different names, including:

  • Lower body lift
  • Body lift
  • Belt lipectomy
  • Tummy tuck and buttock lift

In general, good candidates for a circumferential tummy tuck have experienced significant weight loss either through diet and exercise or through a medical or surgical weight loss program. Because of this, they have developed circumferential laxity of the waist, including the abdomen, hips/thighs and buttocks.

The incision of a circumferential tummy tuck extends completely around the waist: a tummy tuck incision in the front, thigh lift incision on the sides and buttock lift incision on the back.

I have found that people who are good candidates for and undergo a circumferential tummy tuck are some of my happiest patients. I believe this is in part because the change in appearance and correction of the abdomen, hips, thighs and buttocks can be very dramatic. For some, it is one of the final steps in the journey to lose a significant amount of weight, and attain the health and body appearance they have anticipated for so long.

Recovery from a lower body lift, or circumferential tummy tuck, is actually quite similar to recovery from a full tummy tuck. There are often 2 drains placed: 1 in the back and 1 in the front. An abdominal binder must be worn, and activity is restricted as with a full tummy tuck.

All the best,

Remus Repta, M.D.
